OMC Partners with Special Olympics Ireland: A Year of Fundraising for Inclusion and Empowerment
Recently, we at OMC Claims proudly announced our partnership with Special Olympics Ireland as charity partners. Our team members, Jim Flannery and Rob O’Brien, were honoured to receive invitations to the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Ireland Winter Games in Craigavon.
Last Friday, they attended to witness firsthand the incredible spirit and determination of the athletes involved. One particularly memorable moment was when a young man from one of the five regions took to the stage to recite the athlete oath to open the games officially. True to Munster spirit, he didn’t miss the chance to add his own touch to the end…

Our commitment to supporting Special Olympics Ireland stems from our belief in the transformative power of sports and community. Special Olympics Ireland goes beyond merely providing athletic opportunities; it fosters inclusion, acceptance, and empowerment for athletes with intellectual disabilities, as well as their coaches, volunteers, families, and the communities they belong to.
As part of our partnership, OMC Claims will participate in various individual and team events throughout the year, all in support of this wonderful cause. Our Managing Director, John O’Donoghue, will kick things off by taking on the Connemara Ultramarathon on April 21st, covering an impressive 39.3 miles or 63.3 kilometers!
But that’s just the beginning. In June, two OMC Claims teams will be flexing their muscles for a plane pull challenge at Baldonnel Airfield, and in August, get ready for our marquee event, “OMC Climbs”, where we and some of our partners will conquer Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain.
Other team members have also taken up personal challenges to further support Special Olympics Ireland. Jim will be taking a “Dip a Day” throughout the month of May, Martin O’Brien is gearing up for a 24-hour cycle in Mondello Park, and Rob is finally going to get his shoes dirty by embarking on the Kerry Way Ultra Marathon in September.

Special Olympics Ireland’s reach across Ireland is extensive, touching the lives of countless individuals and communities.
